DEPARTMENT OF THE MEDICAL AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF MENTAL DISORDER’S THERAPY

 

The department has been working since 2000, as a department of new methods of therapy, created by unification of two scientific clinical division. The department received its modern name in 2001.

Since the foundation, the department is headed by MD, Prof.  Vitaly Ya. Pishel.

The main directions of the department:

1. Scientific substantiation and development of clinical guidelines, standards and criteria of quality medical diagnostic and socio - rehabilitative care to patients with mental disorders.

2. Scientific substantiation and improvement of the organizational forms of psychiatric care, rehabilitation and social protection of people with mental disorders.

3. Development and implementation of highly effective medical technologies and methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental disorders.

4. Development of methodological approaches to the provision of treatment and diagnostic care for patients with mental disorders in general practice.

Conducting approbation and testing of new methods of therapy, devices and medicines.

5. Preparation of scientific personnel of the highest qualification.

6. Providing advice and organizational-methodological assistance to health facilities.

7. Providing in high-specialized  medical care to patients with mental and behavioral disorders.

8. Participation in the organization and work of regional, national, international scientific-practical conferences, meetings, symposiums on social psychiatry.

9. Educational and pedagogical activities in advanced training of psychiatry.

 

 

Research work carried out in the department

1. Develop of standards for clinical practice and scientifically prove the guaranteed volumes of medical and diagnostic care for patients with affective disorders (2002-2005).

2. Scientific principles of medical and social care and to develop and implement standards of modern diagnostics, therapy and rehabilitation of patients with the first psychotic episode (2006-2009).

3. To scientifically justify, develop and implement quality criteria for providing medical and social care for people with schizophrenia (2010-2012).

4. Development of an integrated system of organization of medical and social assistance for mental disorders with high levels of disability (on the example of schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders) (2013-2015).

5. Development of a model of medical and social management of post-traumatic mental disorders among combatants and persons temporarily relocated from the zone of combat operations and occupied territories (prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, examination). Fragment "Peculiarities of psychopharmacotherapeutic support of posttraumatic mental disorders in combatants, immigrants and members of their families" (2015-2017).
